Shaheed Benazirabad District, previously known as Nawabshah District, is one of the districts in the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The district was renamed in September 2008 when most of MPAs of Nawabshah demanded the district be renamed to honour the late party leader.
The Land Revenue Act was amended for this purpose and a new section 6-A was inserted giving powers to the Secretary Revenue to change the name of the district after which a notification 8/4/2008/Rev-1 (IV)/ 975 was issued by the additional secretary, Board of Revenue Hyderabad on September 15, 2008 in pursuant of resolution passed on April 8, 2008 using his powers to rename Nawabshah district as Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto district.
