Iltutmish was one of the slaves of Qutb-ud-din Aibak who later became his son-in-Law, was from the Ilabari tribe of the Turks. That’s why, some scholars call the slave dynasty as Ilabari dynasty. Iltutmish was third and greatest Delhi sultan of the Slave dynasty. He was a slave of Qutb-ud-din Aibak and later became his son-in-law. He shifted the capital from Lahore to Delhi, remained the ruler until his death on May 1, 1236.
